Namibian Vice President Nangolo Mbumba has said higher learning institutions should train the youth to become real scientists.

In a video on Thursday, Mbumba said the institutions must exchange information, and good practices as well as train the youth to the best of their ability.

"Teach our youth to be real scientists for them to rescue our communities from disasters, "he said.

The Namibian Vice President said Africans are one so educating the youth and exposing them to skills is important.

"The more students interact with certain issues during their studies, it is an advantage to the entire community. You won't meet someone and be like they are either from Eastern Africa or Southern Africa, we are one," Mbumba said.

African Development Bank (AfDB) through the Global Centre on Adaptation (GCA) on September 5 launched Sh140 billion in funding towards a youth adapt programme.

The funds are to be utilized by the youth from Africa in creating solutions towards mitigating the effects of climate change.

The Bank's President Akinwumi Adesina said this would enable the youth to come up with innovations in areas that include agriculture, energy, water, and sanitation among others.

"The youth of Africa do not require little things being dolled to them. The greatest risk for Africa is not investing in its youth, we have no choice but to invest in the youth," Akinwumi said.
