Kisii Senator Richard Onyonka now wants the National Dialogue Committee to be given access to the 2022 presidential election servers.

The Orange Democratic Movement(ODM) lawmaker said a clear audit of the servers will help to address any weaknesses so as to build a foolproof system ahead of 2027.

The audit of the 2022 presidential polls is one of the issues for dialogue by the committee which brings together 10 members from both Kenya Kwanza and the opposition.

Onyonka suggested that there be a 'definitive structure' to avoid electoral disputes in future elections.

"Can we look at the structural setup of the servers and find out where is it that mistakes can be made so that in the next elections we don't repeat the same mistakes," Onyonka said.

To ensure that the dialogue team gets a feel of the challenges that the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission(IEBC) technology faced, Onyonka wants the servers opened.

Onyonka said that a team be selected and given unlimited access to the election servers after every election cycle and also take an oath of secrecy through a Non-Disclosure Agreement (NDA).

"We can have a legal framework where the server can be opened and we can actually agree who are the individuals who will have access to that information," he said said during Citizen TV's Daybreak show on Thursday.

"Let us push ourselves to a point whereby we create a system that is verifiable, believable, effective and that makes Kenyans believe."

Azimio leader Raila Odinga had claimed that he won the 2022 presidential polls but was rigged out in favour of President William Ruto.

Ruto was declared duly elected president by retired IEBC chairperson Wafula Chebukati with a wafer-thin victory but Raila wants the servers opened to confirm who won.
