The World Bank and the National Police Service have joined forces in a bid to prioritise road safety in the country.

In a statement released by the NPS, it was revealed that a delegation of World Bank transport specialists engaged in discussions with the Inspector General of the Police Japhet Koome on September 13 at the headquarters.

“Their discussion focused on modalities of collecting data on traffic accidents to improve road safety in Kenya,” NPS stated.

IG Koome reiterated the commitment of NPS to continue collaborating with the World Bank and NTSA to improve service delivery to the public.

Last month, NTSA launched a campaign targeting boda boda riders in the country to enhance road safety.

NTSA based their tutorials on the importance of using safety equipment, especially helmets and reflectors in their line of duty, as well as following the Traffic Act and related regulations.

NTSA also issued a serious warning to matatu drivers ahead of school closure that they should observe traffic rules and ensure students belt up to prevent accidents.

This was a campaign to protect children and to ensure their safety.
