In the new review by the Energy and Petroleum Regulatory Authority prices of super petrol and diesel are now retailing at over Sh200.
The price of petrol has gone up by Sh16.96 per litre while diesel has increased by about Sh21.32 per litre. Kerosene increases by Sh33.13 per litre
"The changes run from September 15 to October 14, 2023," EPRA said in a statement.
The prices vary from town to town and Mandera is leading in petrol retail at Sh225.64 per litre.
The town will also retail the most expensive diesel at Sh214.99 per litre as compared to other major towns.
For Kerosene, Madera people will purchase at Sh216.61 per litre.
Eldas town in Wajir county comes second with the highest amount of petrol and diesel.
To purchase petrol in the town, residents will cough Sh223.50 for petrol and Sh212.84 for diesel, as for Kerosene, it will retail at Sh214.45 per litre.
For Wajir town, residents using Kerosene will be required to pay Sh212.55.
Motorists will purchase petrol and diesel at Sh221.59 and ShSh210.93 per litre respectively.
In Elwak, Mandera, the common mwananchi will cough Sh214.10 for Kerosene as petrol and diesel will retail at Sh223.15 and Sh212.49 per litre respectively.
Further, Kenyans living in Doldo will be required to pay Sh214.53 for petrol, and Sh203.88 for diesel.
To be able to afford Kerosene in Doldo, the resident will pay Sh205.49
In Nairobi, petrol will be purchased at Sh211.64, diesel at Sh200.99 and Kerosene at Sh202.61
For Mombasa, motorists will pay up to Sh208.58 for petrol and Sh197.93 for diesel. Kerosene users will purchase a litre at Sh199.54
Super petrol will retail at Sh210.63 in Nakuru, with a maximum of Sh200.40 for diesel.
Kerosene will retail at a higher Sh202.01 in the town.
In Kisumu and Eldoret super petrol will retail at Sh211.40, diesel at Sh201.17 and Kerosene at Sh202.77.
“The prices are inclusive of the 16 per cent Value Added Tax in line with the provision of the Finance Act 2023,” Epra further said.
No stabilisation was applied in the latest review.
The increase has been fueled by the average landing cost of imported petrol, diesel and kerosene.
"The average landed cost of imported Super Petrol increased by 4.80% from US$739.21 per cubic metre in July 2023 to US$774.67 per cubic metre in August 2023; Diesel increased by 12.52% from US$701.99 per cubic metre to US$789.89 per cubic metre while Kerosene increased by 19.79% from US$690.58 per cubic metre to US$827.26 per cubic metre," Epra said.
