The President was accompanied by US Ambassador to Kenya Meg Whitman among others.

The meeting happened during the head of state's visit to the United States of America for the 2023 US-Kenya business roadshow in San Francisco, California.

This is probably the first time the two are meeting after the Worldcoin activities made news headlines in Kenya, leading to the suspension of its operation in the country.

“The company will be allowed to operate once it allows for a security audit, allows the government access to the data, registers with the Business Registration Services (BRS) as well as establish a local representative,” Data Commissioner Immaculate Kassait said

“It will also be required to carry out a Data Protection Impact Assessment (DPIA) and simplify consent and provide clarity on data storage."

While appearing before the National Assembly committee, Worldcoin Chief Executive Officer Alex Blania said the company has so far invested over Sh700 million in Kenya.

Blania said the funds have been utilised on blockchain and cryptocurrency education and ICT awareness.

"We wish to emphasise the Worldcoin project’s long-term commitment to Kenya. Our commitment to the people of Kenya is genuine, and we have at all times endeavoured to operate honestly, compliantly and above all transparently," he said.
