Former Mungiki leader Maina Njenga is currently in court after he was released from his alleged abductors.

He was accompanied by his lawyers as he awaited the mention of a case over alleged planning of demonstrations.

Njenga was accompanied by his brother and a close aide who was seen at the Makadara law courts.

The former Mungiki leader was in the headlines after he was allegedly abducted by unknown people.

He was later released on Sunday night by his suspected kidnappers after 24 hours.

He was dumped in Limuru, Kiambu County at about 10.15 pm and offered fare home.

He then hopped onto a motorbike to his Banana home where he had been picked up by his alleged abductors on Saturday night.

It was after he arrived home that he called his lawyers and relatives to tell them of his release.
