A 27-year-old man got serious injuries in Lamu County after a buffalo attacked him on Amu Island.
According to Mutakina Hussein, Mpungani location chief, the man was heading home from his job in Kizingo to Kipungani when the buffalo suddenly charged at him.
“He was in the company of his colleagues. They had left Kizingo for Kipungani when the incident happened,” Hussein said.
Thankfully, his colleagues were with him, but they had to run into the forest to escape the charging animal.
Hussein added that the locals backed against the buffalo and managed to kill it.
Hussein further said that the injured man was rushed to King Fahad Referral Hospital for treatment.
Victims of wildlife attacks in Lamu are now asking the government to compensate them.
Lamu residents have also faced wild animals destroying their crop farms.
They complain that animals like monkeys, buffaloes, birds, and other wild animals have taken charge of their farms and feast on their crops.
