Kakamega Deputy Governor Ayub Savula has called on President William Ruto to reinstate fuel subsidies to cushion Kenyans from suffering due to the high cost of living.

Savula further hit at leaders calling for the sacking of various Cabinet Secretaries involved saying it was not the best solution the country requires at the moment.

He said it is time for leaders to give working advice to the President, so as to help him find lasting solutions to the issues affecting Kenyans.

Savula further noted that hurling insults at the President will not help solve the matter.

"For the cost of living to come down we the leaders must give the president a solution. Nikitusi ruto nitakuwa nasaidia kupunguza gharama ya maisha?" he paused.

"Nikimwambia Ruto weka subsisdy kwa mafuta ili bei ya mafuta isonge chini na bei ya vyakula isonge chini si nitakuwa namsaidia. Sasa naskia Khalwale anasema minsters wafutwe, hiyo ni solution kweli?" Savula asked.

"The solution is we must give the President the correct advice. Mwambie mwananchi anaumia weka subsidy kwa mafuta hapa bei ya mafuta irudi chini bei ya vyakula irudi chini."

Savula said this a day after Kakamega Senator called on Ruto to sack three of his senior officials amid the rising cost of fuel in the country.

Khalwale who was speaking in Kakamega urged the President to sack Trade CS Moses Kuria and his Energy counterpart Davis Chirchir.

“President Ruto sack these people otherwise serikali yako sasa hata in a small function like this inaanza kukaa kama iko na sura mbaya,” Khalwale said.

Kuria had told off Kenyans who are complaining about fuel prices to drill their own oil wells, a statement that has also attracted sharp criticism from DP Rigathi Gachagua.
