Police have impounded counterfeit drinks suspected to be illicit alcohol in Gituamba village, Ngatho location in Murang’a County.

This follows an operation conducted by the National Police Service (NPS) in collaboration with National Government Administration Officers as the fight to do away with illicit alcohol in the county intensifies.

In a statement, police said that approximately 60 cartons of branded drinks and one reel of certified excise stamps had been confiscated.

According to a police statement, an investigation is underway, with a pending arrest of a known suspect in connection to the case.

“Ithanga Police Station is investigating and the case is Pending Arrest of a Known Accused (PAKA),” police said.

This follows a mission started by Deputy President  Rigathi Gachagua to fight against illicit alcohol in the Mount Kenya region.

Gachagua insisted that the fight was unstoppable and he won’t allow anyone to compromise the mission.

This collaborative effort by law enforcement agencies highlights the commitment to eradicating the distribution of illicit drinks in the region.

The operation underscores the resolve of authorities to ensure that counterfeit goods and illegal alcoholic beverages do not find their way into the hands of unsuspecting consumers.
