Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua's signature morning walk took a different dimension on Monday morning.

He donned a yellow sports jacket, black trousers and sports shoes.

The DP who was at his rural home in Mathira, Nyeri county visited a family whose house was razed by fire. James Gatua three houses were gutted down by fire last week.

"The beauty of being at the village in Mathira, Nyeri county not only allows me to walk and exercise in the green and refreshing environment but also get to meet the neighbours for catchup," Gachagua said.

The DP stated that the national government is working closely with counties to bring emergency response services closer to Kenyans.

"This will help to avert loss of lives and livelihoods," Gachagua said.

The DP has maintained his routine morning walk exercise whether at home or away.

Last month, he took his walks to El Virrey Park, Bogotá DC, Colombia every day he was there.

Gachagua admired the neat and beautiful facilities at the park.

He even said that Kenya needs to invest in such spaces asking all governors to emulate and implement the ideas to conserve the environment.

In August when President William Ruto was in Kakamega for a week to lead the groundbreaking of various projects, the DP continued with the morning walks.

Gachagua said that the morning walk was a pleasant way to prepare mind and soul for the week ahead.

During the walks, the DP takes time to interact with neighbours and people he meets along the way.
