A worker who was erecting a water tank stand died after it collapsed on him in Maralal, Samburu County.

The victim Philemon Lantare, 34, died instantly after the stand collapsed as he and his colleagues erected it.

Police said a group of workers were drilling a borehole at a school compound and were erecting a metallic stand when the incident happened.

According to witnesses, a rope they were using to pull the stand snapped and the stand came down crushing the victim.

Police are investigating the murder of a 92-year-old woman in Vugurugani location, Kilifi County.

The woman identified as Luvuno Mongo was reportedly attacked by unknown people, who cut her using sharp object on her right shoulder, neck and head killing her instantly.

The motive is not yet known, police said.

In Narok’s Tendwet area, a man was arrested after he beat and killed his 16-year-old daughter.

The incident happened when the 44-year-old man was arrested after assaulting his Form 2 daughter in an argument over unclear reasons.

The girl succumbed to injuries while undergoing treatment at Longisa Hospital, police said.

On learning about the Tuesday incident, a mob tried to lynch the man but police rushed to the scene and saved him.

The suspect is expected in court to face various charges, police said.

Elsewhere, police said they are investigating the death of four people in separate incidents.

The bodies of the victims are lying in separate mortuaries pending a probe, police said.

In Nambale, Busia County, police said they are investigating the death of a 23-year-old man whose body was found in his grandmother’s house.

The incident happened in Elwanikha village within Buyofu sub-location where one Wycliffe Nakhumwa Makokha was found lying dead on the bed with no visible injuries.

In Kwanza, Trans Nzoia, 52-year-old Francis Wafula Wanyama collapsed and died while walking to a neighbour's house.

Police said the body had no visible injuries.

In Mwingi, Kitui County, the body of one Tom Ngui, 49 was found on the roadside.

Police said the body had no physical injuries when it was discovered on Tuesday evening.

The cause of the death is not yet known, police said.
