Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has hailed the Bomas talks.

"I'm confident that all is well",  he said.

"However, the dialogue with take Opposition Chief Raila Odinga nowhere."

The DP, who spoke during an interview on Inooro Radio on Friday morning, said that Kenya Kwanza team has confidence in their team lead by National Assembly Majority Leader Kimani Ichung'wah.

"Elections are over. It is time to work for our people. I am confident that all is well at the Bomas talks and we have total confidence in our team," Gachagua said.

The DP has previously demonised the National Dialogue Committee saying the talks at the Bomas of Kenya are a waste of time.

"Nothing will come out of those talks. It is a waste of time. I’m telling you as deputy president of the Republic of Kenya," Gachagua said on August 22.

However, Gachagua on Friday said the talks have nothing to do with sharing power as that had already been agreed with President William Ruto.

Gachagua hit at former prime minister Raila Odinga saying the talks will not yield what he termed as his desire to join the government through the back door.

"I am assuring you that the Bomas talks will get him(Raila) nowhere. We are in agreement with President Ruto that we will not get him into government," Gachagua said.

However, Raila has denied that he is angling for any government position insisting that his desire is to see that the country goes through reforms to strengthen governance and the democratic space.

The Bomas team concluded collecting public views on five key issues and is set to retreat to write its report before it is tabled before Parliament.

During the presentations, Raila's Azimio made a raft of recommendations but snubbed the issue of entrenching the offices of prime cabinet secretary and leader of opposition in the constitution.

Kenya Kwanza has proposed that the two offices be entrenched in law as a way of enhancing governance and accountability.

On Wednesday, Raila said the Bomas team must also recommend on the country's governance structure.

"We must decide whether we are parliamentary, presidential or hybrid system, creating an office of chief cabinet secretary would be establishing a mongrel," he said during an interview with KTN news.

Gachagua has previously been seen as a key critic of the Bomas talks that were initiated by Ruto and Raila.

Raila had on Wednesday said Gachagua does not deserve to be deputy president because of his public conduct.

Speaking with KTN on Wednesday, Raila said that Gachagua discriminates against Kenyans according to regions claiming that he serves Mount Kenya.

"Gachagua hastahili kuwa naibu wa rais wa Kenya kwa sababu anatoa maneno machafu ambayo inaweza kuleta mapigano kwa taifa. Yeye inasemakana ni naibu wa rais wa taifa ya Kenya lakini yeye anajifanya naibu wa rais wa taifa ya mlima Kenya," he said.

(Gachagua is not fit to be the deputy president of Kenya because his words can divide the country. He is said to be the DP of Kenya but serves as the DP of Mount Kenya region).
