Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has revealed that he played a key role in Moses Kuria's inclusion in the Kenya Kwanza Cabinet.
This is the first time the DP has exposed his boardroom influence in the appointment of President William Ruto's first Cabinet.
The remarks come at a time speculation about a fallout between the DP and the former Gatundu South MP is rife.
Kuria was this week moved from the lucrative Trade and Industrialisation docket to the less prestigious Ministry of Public Service, Performance and Delivery Management in what was seen by analysts as a demotion.
Gachagua said on Friday that he will counsel Kuria from the 'bad boy that he is,' lifting the lid on their possible fallout and growing rift.
"I'm the one who talked to the president to give Kuria work in the Cabinet. I will talk to him (Kuria) to cease being the bad boy he is,'' the DP said during an interview with Inooro Radio.
While responding to a question on Kuria's past unprintable remarks against former First Lady Mama Ngina Kenyatta and his new unity push for Mt Kenya region, Gachagua said he will 'tune' the CS's tongue.
"I will panel-beat him to conform to the demands of the civil. I will tune his tongue to sound nice in talk,” Gachagua said.
Kuria has not directly mentioned any names following the Cabinet changes, but said in Garissa on Thursday that some people uncomfortable with his leadership wanted him removed.
In an apparent reference to a group of people he said were celebrating his exit from the Trade Ministry, Kuria said he will work hard in his new docket and disappoint them.
"They will say that I'm too much. They will be asking for another reshuffle in six months' time. I promise you, because of the way I will streamline this ministry. I will move around this country to make sure the government of President William Ruto succeeds in the plans he promised Kenyans," he said.
"If you were disturbed with me having one ministry, how about now that I coordinate all the 22 ministries?" he posed.
After the announcement of the Cabinet reshuffle, Kuria posted a photo of Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua.
The photo on his X platform, formerly Twitter, was not captioned triggering speculations about the intended message he meant to pass.
He the uploaded three moving songs on his X account.
One of the songs, 'Mwathani wakwa njakaniria tawa', by John Murage and Gicheha wa Ngugi, which loosely translates to 'turn on the lights for me my Lord'.
