Former Trade Cabinet Secretary Moses Kuria will on Wednesday hand over the docket to his successor a week after he was pushed to the Ministry of Public Service.

Immediate former East African Community Cabinet Secretary Rebecca Miano is set to assume the role.

The Ministry of Trade is housed at the NSSF building.

In his statement days after the reshuffle, Kuria said he was ready to work in any ministry or department assigned by President William Ruto.

He said he is leaving the Ministry a proud man having achieved a lot; "from setting up at least 15 industrial parks across the country to establishing economic zones in the last year."

"The same way, I have worked so hard in Trade to bring industrialization; it is the same effort I will use in my new ministry in the public service," he said.

Speaking during the official launch of the Garissa County Aggregation and Industrial Park (CAIP), the CS stated that they all have a responsibility to help the president in any assignment regardless of the ministry or department they are in.

“I have not even finished a year as a Cabinet Secretary but in that period, a third of the country is now industrializing. We have brought on board investors from the biggest economic zones in just one year, so I leave this ministry with head high and a very proud person that the work we have done will not go unnoticed," he added.

And, as he prepares for the new role, Kuria has urged all public servants and government contractors to deliver services according to their performance contracts or resign to allow more qualified people to take up the positions.

He said that he will work hard to ensure a smooth service delivery in the public service warning that action will be taken against officers who fail to meet their targets.

Some seven other cabinet members were also affected by the changes announced last Wednesday.

CS Peninah Malonza takes over Miano’s portfolio as Alice Wahome moves to Lands replacing Zacharia Njeru who occupies her office.

Former Foreign Affairs cabinet secretary Alfred Mutua was moved to that of Tourism formerly held by Malonza.
