Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology (MMUST) has prohibited students from wearing crocs, miniskirts, slippers, and ragged jeans within the institution.

In an internal memo dated October 11, 2023, the university's Dean of Students Bernardatte Abwao also noted that plastic shoes, turbo-cuts, skin-tight trousers, and transparent dresses are among clothes categorised as unofficial.

"As students, you are expected to dress decently, in modest and appropriate attires. Please note these are not official wares and should not be worn at the University," Abwao said.

The memo also warned the students against wearing low-cut blouses, attires that show bra straps, and sleeveless t-shirts.

T-shirts with obscene writings, micro shorts, and clothes that reveal chests have also been banned.

Abwao further appreciated the students who dress decently when they go to the university for classes.

"We have, however, observed and noted with concern the indecent dressing by some of you," the dean of students said.
