Police recover magazine in Kabete robbery incident

Detectives who have been hunting down criminals who robbed a senior police officer of his pistol in Kiambu have managed to recover a magazine.

The magazine, police say, was loaded with 15 rounds of 9MM.

In the operation conducted at Kingeero area within Kabete, a Realme mobile phone make which had been stolen from the officer was also recovered.

The operation was led by Kiambu County police commander Perminus Kioi and County Criminal Investigations Officer (CCIO) Aggrey Okoth.

“The area is still being combed by the multi-agency team from Kabete,” a report from the police states.

No arrest has, however, been made.

In the Monday morning incident, the officer is said to have been attacked by a gang of three at Kingeero and robbed of his Jericho pistol while on his way to the house of a colleague to hand over a case file.

The inspector of police is in charge of the Mwimuto police post.

According to police, the officer was waiting for the gate to be opened when the gunmen who were armed with pistols ordered them to lie down at gunpoint.

They then ordered him and the colleague to surrender all the valuables they had before grabbing the weapon.

The gang escaped the scene soon after the incident.
