Azimio will have to wait up to Wednesday to know the fate of its proposed changes regarding the Deputy Minority Whip seat.

In a communication issued on Tuesday afternoon, Speaker National Assembly Moses Wetang’ula announced that he would deliver a comprehensive communication on Wednesday at 2.30 pm.

“Regarding Hon Sabina Chege and Mark Mwenje, I will issue a communication tomorrow at 2 pm,” Wetang’ula said.

The minority side had settled on Embakasi West MP Mark Mwenje to replace Sabina – changes which could not be effected due to a court order.

The High Court however dismissed the case on October 9 after declaring that Sabina had not exhausted all the dispute resolution mechanisms within Azimio.

Azimio had accused the Speaker of dragging feet in effecting the changes and had vowed to disrupt House business on Tuesday if the changes are not confirmed.

“We are giving a notice for whoever cares to listen to listen clearly, if the court order that was issued on October 9 is not effected by the Speaker and Hon Mwenje is allowed to resume his role as the deputy Minority Whip then there will be no business in the National Assembly when the House resumes,” Wandayi said on Thursday.

“This joke has been extended too far and for too long and it must come to an end in one way or the other.”
