The Orange Democratic Movement Party has said the newly appointed National Assembly Deputy Minority Whip Mark Mwenje is up to the task.
In a statement, the opposition said it will give the Embakasi West Member of Parliament its full support.
"Congratulations Mark Mwenje on your assumption into office as the Deputy Minority Whip of the Azimio la Umoja One Kenya Coalition," part of the statement read.
"You are up to the task and we fully support you as you embark on the next step in your young political career. Godspeed."
On its part, Azimio La Umoja said: "Congratulations Mark Mwenje on taking office as the Deputy Minority Whip of the Azimio la Umoja One Kenya Coalition."
On Wednesday, Speaker Moses Wetang'ula approved the removal of Nominated MP Sabina Chege as Deputy Minority Whip, paving the way for Mwenje to take over the office.
"In this regard, Mark Mwenje replaces nominated MP Sabina Chege as the Deputy Minority Whip," Wetang'ula announced.
"To give effect the provisions of article 36 of the Constitution on freedom of association and article 38 of the Constitution on the political right which confer upon each member of the House the right to determine which entity they wish to be associated with."
Wetangula's decision comes after months of back-and-forth between him, Sabina and the Azimio La Umoja - One Kenya alliance.
The battle would later find its way into the corridors of justice after Sabina lodged a case to block her ouster.
The High Court in Kiambu, however, dismissed the case on October 9 after declaring that Sabina had not exhausted all the dispute resolution mechanisms within Azimio.
The appointment of Mwenje as Sabina's replacement was announced in June after the Azimio la Umoja coalition announced that MP Sabina would no longer lead the outfit.
Ugunja MP and Minority Leader Opiyo Wandayi announced that the decision was made after the Nominated MP declared allegiance to the ruling Kenya Kwanza coalition.
The minority leader added that the decision is in furtherance of a Jubilee party National Delegates Conference (NDC) where MP Chege was expelled from the party's leadership.
