Gachagua meets Mayor of Gersthofen, Michael Worle

Worle in August visited Kisumu and held talks with Governor Anyang’ Nyong’o at his City Hall office

Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua on Sunday held talks with the Mayor of Gersthofen, Michael Worle.

The DP, together with his wife, Dorcas Rigathi and Baringo Central MP Joshua Kandie. were hosted by Worle.

Gachagua said the meeting aimed at exploring areas of partnership between Gersthofen City and Kenyan counties under the twinning programme.

“Part of the strategies of strengthening devolution is working and learning from advanced Counties and cities within and beyond Kenya,” he said.

Currently, Gersthofen City is working with Kisumu City County and Baringo County, a partnership that is transforming service delivery as we grow strong and autonomous economies at the devolved units.

Gachagua commended the progress made so far in controlling pollution and addressing water shortage.

“As we also work on the transfer of skills and under the TVETs and other higher learning institutions, we look forward to more job opportunities in Foreign Direct Investment apart from the export of labour from Kenya under the ongoing negotiations on the Bilateral Labour Agreement,” he added.

Worle in August visited Kisumu and held talks with Governor Anyang’ Nyong’o at his City Hall office.

Governor Nyong’o expressed his excitement at the prospect of sharing sub national experiences with Gersthofen from the State of Bavaria in Germany.

“We are looking forward to sharing experiences while tapping into German models to help Kisumu grow into an economically resilient county that provides quality livability conditions,” Nyong’o said.

The DP left the country on Monday evening for Belgium and Germany to attend the Global Gateway Forum.

Gachagua said that Kenya continues to seek new and strengthening existing partnerships for development and opening up new opportunities for the good of the country.

The DP is in the two countries to represent President William Ruto at a forum hosted by the European Commission in the Capital, Brussels.

On Friday, he held talks with youthful investors in Germany.

The DP met Florian Kraus and Max Lenz, youthful investors in the horticulture subsector in Munich, Germany.

Gachagua said they discussed developing a roadmap for deepening investment in fruit farming and processing in Elgeyo Marakwet and Baringo Counties.
