Basic Education Principal Secretary Belio Kipsang has said the ministry will be prioritising the marking of the final Kenya Certificate of Primary Schools exams.

Kipsang said this is aimed at ensuring learners and parents get their results on time to allow them to prepare adequately for admission into form high school.

"I want to assure you that we are starting marking immediately. Because our children have to report to school in January, we shall prioritise the marking of KCPE," he said.

"Before we break for Christmas our parents would have known where their children would have been admitted to for form one. This will allow them to mobilise the necessary resources for them to take their children to school."

He said early marking will also allow those seeking scholarships to make their applications.

The PS said before the end of January 2024, every learner should be in school.

"We are opening schools for the continuing students on January 8, and within the shortest time we would want the others to join them as form ones," Kipsang said.

He said that every learner who sat KCPE is going to transition to the next level

"We are already engaging to make sure all our children transit to the next level, and when I say all I mean all, " Kipsang said.

On marking, the PS said the ministry is adequately resourced to compensate and pay the professionals who have been handling the exams.

"We want to assure our examiners that this year, we shall be able to put out all payments that are due to them in good time," he said.

He termed the administration of the primary-level national exams a success adding that the multi-agency approach helped.

Kipsang said the ministry is still on the lookout to ensure security remains tight till all the national exams are administered.

He lauded the entire team that helped in administering the exams seamlessly
