Second Lady Pastor Dorcas Rigathi has urged university students to speak out when facing any challenges instead of suffering in silence.
Pastor Dorcas said students should always get someone to talk to whenever in hard situations.
"To avoid increased cases of misunderstanding, depression, and suicide, parents and their children must learn to speak to one another and not misjudge each other’s actions," she said.
She spoke during her visit to Karatina University in Nyeri County on Friday.
The Second Lady was visiting the institution in her continued alcohol, drugs and substance abuse preventive program in her office.
Pastor Dorcas challenged the students to stay focused on their dreams and never to give up.
“The Kenya Kwanza Government believes in the potential of the youth to contribute to the manufacturing, agriculture, and technology sectors with rich and transformative ideas. Institutions of higher learning are a goldmine of potential and ideas, and when well harnessed, they will offer critical solutions for the growth of our local and global economies,” she said.
So far, Pastor Rigathi has held talks on drug and substance abuse with students from Nairobi University, Daystar University, Masai Mara University, Mt.Kenya University and several high schools.
Pastor Dorcas said her office is working on setting up call centres at universities for easy counselling.
She also called on Kenyans to be patient with the government to deliver on its promises to Kenyans.
Some of the leaders present included Nyeri Deputy Governor David Kinaniri and Mathira MP Eric Wamumbi among others
