The DP started the week on Sunday in his Kiambu turf where he joined a host of political leaders for a church service and harambee at ST James ACK church in Kiambu.

It was during the service that he termed as nonsense the so-called battle for Mt Kenya kingship.

The DP rebuked proponents of the kingship battle narrative, insisting that he is less interested in a position that he said is not provided for in the Constitution.

"I do not have time for that kingpin ship nonsense, I don't have that time because I am very busy," Gachagua said.

"This kingpin position, where is the office located, how much is the salary? If there are people who want that office, I'm not part of it because I am the deputy president. My office is located in Harambee House and Karen. There is a salary and a job to do."

Monday

On Monday, the DP had a busy day, hosting various delegations from Kiambu County as he brokered a deal against an impeachment plan against Governor Kimani Wa Matangi.

The DP said that the people of Kenya at the grassroots will benefit from Devolution when the executive and the legislative arms work in harmony, with constant consultations.

"Today, I held intensive engagements separately and jointly with the political leadership of Kiambu County. We were unanimous that the County has issues that are solvable," the DP said.

"The commitment of the leaders to solve their issues for the good of the people of Kiambu County is commendable. I urge sobriety on the way forward on all the matters raised by the parties in the timelines agreed upon."

The DP held separate meetings with MCAs, MPs and the Governor before a joint meeting that hammered a truce.

Tuesday

On Tuesday, the DP joined President William Ruto for the launch of the Pending Bills Verification Committee at State House where he noted that prompt payment for delivered goods and services should be paramount.

"The Committee will be instrumental in the identification of genuine bills for payment,'' he said.

Earlier that day, Gachagua joined the president when he hosted the Prime Minister of the Czech Republic, Petr Fiala, at State House.

"Kenya continues to seek new and enhance existing diplomatic ties with other States as part of our strategy of rebuilding a strong economy,'' he said.

That morning, the DP was also at State House when the President hosted Kenya Kwanza MPs for a parliamentary group meeting.

He said Parliament is an important arm in driving the development agenda of the Ruto administration's Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda.

"This was a crucial meeting in solidifying a common understanding of Legislative, Policy and Administrative issues to buttress delivery of our Development Plan,'' he said.

Thursday

On Thursday, the DP held talks with ambassador of the Arab Republic of Egypt Wael Naserldin Attiya at his Harambee House Annex  and held strategic discussions in deepening trade and investment.

"It is gratifying to note the huge interest of the Egyptian Business community keen on investing in our country,'' he said.

On the same day, Gachagua hosted representatives of the Federation of Drivers and Conductors and other Transport stakeholders at his Karen official residence.

The DP said they engaged on ways of dignifying and improving the working space and welfare of the federation's members, particularly the youth who form more than 90 percent of the workforce.

"It was an important conversation in highlighting and proposing a way forward on pertinent issues, including the fight against abuse of substance, drugs, and alcohol," Gachagua said after the meeting.

" The menace is rampant in this industry, a factor that negatively impacts optimal productivity."

The DP said that they also discussed issues on insurance, road safety, and security, among others given that the transport sector is a key driver of the economy.

"We want the benefits to trickle down to the players, including the drivers and conductors, for a dignified life,'' he said.

The DP said the Ministry of Roads and Transport, County Governments, and other relevant agencies, will work together to address road safety concerns, especially signage.

Earlier, that day Gachagua held fruitful discussions on mitigation of the negative impacts of the ongoing enhanced rain with the United Nations Office for Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA).

The DP met the Assistant Secretary-General and Deputy Emergency Relief Coordinator Regional Office for Southern and Eastern Africa Joyce Msuya.

''In line with our earlier plans in response to the floods, which have wreaked havoc in several parts of the country, we will work side by side with OCHA alongside other partners and the County Governments to prevent further suffering,'' he said.

The meeting was also attended by Soipan Tuya, the CS for Environment and Natural Resources and the UN Resident Coordinator to Kenya Stephen Jackson.
