Ruto expressed concern that 70 lives had so far been lost, while 36,160 households had been displaced.

He said Sh2.4 billion had been availed to help Kenyans who have been affected by the rains.

“We have availed Sh2.4 billion to provide food to the displaced persons,” he said.

Why Eugene Wamalwa refused to sign the final Talks team report

Former Defence CS Eugene Wamalwa has explained the reason he declined to append his signature to the National Dialogue Committee's report.

Wamalwa who was one of the people representing the Opposition side Azimio in the talks on Sunday said that he will also not accept any allowances that will come as a result of taking part in the talks.

The DAP-K party leader further stated that this is because he does not believe they did justice to the issue that was most pressing to Kenyans, which is the cost of living.

Irish priest, 88 found dead in Gigiri house.

Police are investigating an incident in which an aged catholic priest was found dead in his house in Gigiri, Nairobi.

A caregiver at the house reported to police that the 88-year-old was found unresponsive in his room.

The caregiver reported the priest had been battling high blood pressure complications.

Police visited the scene and helped to move the body to the mortuary pending autopsy and other procedures.

According to police, the body did not have any visible injuries at the time it was moved to the mortuary.

Murkomen breaks silence on disrupted peace tournament.

Transport Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen has broken silence after Baringo youths brought his peace tournament to a premature end.

According to Murkomen, the event whose videos have been going viral on social media ended because a section of youths protested losing a game.

The OKM Peace Cup tournament was held in collaboration with the Baringo County Governor's Super Cup Finals at the Kabarnet showgrounds in Baringo.

"I was in Baringo to support Governor Cheboi in the County’s Governor’s Cup, which is a combined effort with the OKM Peace Cup. We enjoyed the women's game where Kabarnet Starlets beat Ndambul FC by 3 goals to nil.

"The men's finals were postponed after Baringo Youth FC from Kabarnet, Baringo Central, protested their loss against Chemogoch FC from Mogotio," he said.

Ichung'wa calls out Eugene Wamalwa over NADCO remarks.

National Assembly majority leader Kimani Ichung'wa calls out former Defence CS Eugene Wamalwa over his remarks on the National Dialogue Committee's final report.

Ichung’wah said Wamalwa who has been part of the Nadco process was present until Friday when he excused himself claiming that he was set to travel out of the country.

He said Wamalwa gave his blessings to other Azimio members of the team to proceed with the release of the report and even promised to append his signature once he returned.

“This one left on Friday ahead of the conclusion of the talks claiming he was travelling to Kinshasa and left his blessings to the rest of their team saying he would sign when back,” Ichung’wah claimed.

Court to issue directions on Sakaja aide Osman Khalif's alleged abduction.

Police are today expected to produce in court former South C MCA Osman Khalif who had allegedly been abducted two weeks ago.

That is after Osman appeared in public for the first time on Wednesday following the alleged abduction.

The court had on Monday directed DCI chiefs to come to court and explain the whereabouts of the former MCA before lawyer Ahmednasir Abdullahi came out in public with him.

Suspects linked to Sh94.9 million to be charged.

Five suspects who had been arrested in connection with the theft of Sh94.9 million belonging to Quickmart Supermarket will be charged today.

The five had been detained for 10 days pending investigations.

They will be joined by another four suspects who were arrested over the weekend.

The four are employees of the firm that ferried the cash and are believed to have been involved in the execution of the heist.

The Senate Committee on Trade, Industrialization and Tourism will conduct an inspection visit to the Kenya National Trading Corporation (KNTC) warehouses in Nairobi City from 9 am.

The inspection comes ahead of the Committee's meeting with the CS Ministry of Investment, Trade and Industry, Rebecca Miano on Tuesday.
