Police are investigating a fire incident that killed two minors in Rumuruti, Laikipia County.
The incident happened in the Muhotetu location, Mutanga area, police said.
Police said a two-roomed timber house caught fire killing a three-year-old boy and his one-year-old sister.
Police said locals had reported hearing a loud explosion from the area before the fire broke out.
It later emerged the explosion was caused by a gas cylinder which led to the tragic fire.
Police said they are investigating the Wednesday afternoon tragedy.
Cases where gas cylinders have exploded have been on the rise amid calls to address their safety in general.
In August, one person was killed in Eastleigh, Nairobi, after a gas cylinder explosion.
Earlier this month, four workers were injured at a hotel in South B shopping centre following a gas cylinder explosion.
Several government agencies are investigating the incidents.
Most of the incidents happen in estates.
The scene was processed and both the bodies of the deceased were moved to Nyahururu Hospital mortuary awaiting autopsy.
Meanwhile, police are investigating the suspected drowning of a man whose body was found a quarry water in Wajir.
The man was identified as Yusuf Abdi Mohammed.
His body was found in Khorof Harar by children from Bura Daw Yare who were grazing animals on Thursday, police said.
They told police they came across the lifeless body of a man floating in an abandoned quarry full of rainwater.
Police with the help of the public removed the body to Khorof Harar Sub County Hospital mortuary for postmortem.
They later handed the body to the family members for burial in accordance with the Islamic rites.
Rains have caused more than 136 deaths so far in separate incidents in the country.
The number of households displaced remains at 92,432 comprising 462,160 persons.
