Police are looking for a gang that raided a church in Limuru and seriously wounded the guard on duty in a robbery mission.

The guard was found lying unconscious in a pool of blood after the raid at the Rironi PCEA Church in the area.

The gang also robbed electronic goods from the church in the December 16 incident.

They also abandoned some of the goods on the roadside in the area as they escaped.

The guard aged 63 was found on the ground in the church compound with deep cuts on the head and rushed to Tigoni Level IV Hospital in fair condition, police said.

Police said some of the offices were broken into and electronic goods of unknown value and cash were stolen therein.

No arrest has been made, police said adding investigations are ongoing.

In the Syokimau area, Athi River, four guards were injured in a robbery mission at a construction site.

A gang of ten wearing guards’ uniforms raided the site and posed as colleagues to those on duty before they turned out to be thugs, police said.

Witnesses said three men first arrived in official uniforms similar to those on duty.

They claimed they were there to check on some faulty alarm.

They were later joined by seven other men who turned violent and ordered the four on duty to lie down as they clobbered them.

The guards on duty were bundled into one of the corners of the compound.

The gang damaged CCTV cameras and used a company ladder to climb and gain entry by removing one iron sheet.

According to police, they later went into a store, stole assorted goods, loaded the same onto a waiting lorry and drove off.

Police were called to the scene and declared an investigation had been launched.

In Nyamira’s Bogesumi location unknown armed thugs raided a home of a 70-year-old man and beat him up in a robbery mission.

They later robbed him of assorted household goods and a mobile phone and disappeared to an unknown destination.

Police said he raised an alarm and members of the public responded by pursuing the thugs and arrested one of them.

They recovered some of the electronic goods that had been stolen, police said.

The mob beat up the suspect before he was rescued by police and taken to hospital after the December 16 incident.

Police say cases of robbery with violence are on the rise ahead of Christmas.

More personnel have been dispatched to the villages to help address the vice.
