Ugenya Member of Parliament David Ochieng was on Saturday forced to flee from a funeral in his constituency that was attended by former Prime Minister, Raila Odinga.

The chaos erupted after an unidentified person allegedly snatched the microphone from the Ugenya MP.

The man is said to have emerged from behind before snatching a microphone from his hands.

The chaos erupted on Sunday during the funeral of former Kenya National Union of Teachers secretary William Ohonde in Ligega Siaya County.

The supporters are said to have been opposed to him addressing the mourners due to his alleged affiliation with the current administration.

Several rounds of ammunition were fired in the air as bodyguards attempted to disperse the crowd that was allegedly charging at the Ugenya legislator.

Raila condemned the incident while calling for political tolerance amongst Kenyans.

The Ugenya legislator fled the scene and the burial ceremony went on under heavy police guard.

There were reports of several injuries and destruction of property. 

Siaya Governor James Orengo also condemned the chaos saying leaders must carry themselves with decorum wherever they are.
