Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka has slammed the Kenya Kwanza government over their continued narrative that they found empty coffers.

Speaking on TV47 on Sunday, Kalonzo emphasized that the Kenya Kwanza administration has been in power for the past year and should have no justification for not fulfilling the promises made to Kenyans.

Additionally, he pointed out that current data reveals the government's daily collection exceeding Sh900 million through e-Citizen, making the 'empty coffers' narrative hard to believe.

“Who can believe that story because have we not seen that in a day they are collecting Sh900 million through e-Citizen, a year is gone nobody should have any excuse,” Kalonzo said.

“There is no evidence of what they are saying about empty coffers, we hear that story, it is a very easy narrative to get away, the other one you want to confuse Kenyans is state capture while in fact it is them who are now actually doing exactly that,” he added.

He emphasized that despite the challenges faced in 2023, Azimio is committed to doing everything possible to support the people.

The Azimio coalition, Kalonzo assured, will remain united for the greater good in the future.

The Wiper leader expressed regret over the unfortunate loss of lives during opposition protests this year, noting that some Kenyans lost their lives to police bullets while exercising their rights within the provisions of the Constitution of Kenya.

“Azimio will be there for Kenyans and I want to assure Kenyans we will do our best as Azimio not to let you down and we will stay together, as a start we propose as Azimio to hang together, it is very important,” he said.

“We have had a very challenging year that has seen Kenyans come out to the streets to agitate for their constitutional rights. Unfortunately during those demonstrations, we lost a lot of young people, unnecessary deaths occasioned by police live bullets,” Kalonzo said.

The devastating effect of the opposition protests that paralysed the country for days was exposed in a national security report tabled by President William Ruto in Parliament last month.

According to the report, the economy lost $20.8 million (Sh3.1 billion) daily every time the Raila Odinga-led Azimio brigade staged the protests.

This means Kenya could have lost nearly Sh50 billion between March and July when the Opposition led the street action protesting against the declaration that Ruto won the election against Raila, against the high cost of living and other issues.
