A new research has come up showing that unemployment is highest among those aged 50 and above.

The latest Kenya Media Research, 2023 by Radio Africa Limited's Research Department shows that only 11 per cent of those aged 50 to 59 are part-time employed.

The survey reveals that only 9 per cent of those aged 60 plus are part time employed.

It also showed that all age groups except for 18 to 24 are heavily engaged in business while a third of 18 to 24 are still either in school or college.

It further showed that those aged 50 to 59 and are employed full-time are 10 per cent.

The survey made it clear that those aged 60 plus are only 4 per cent.

The omnibus survey was conducted by Radio Africa Limited Research Department between June 29 to July 11, 2023.

The methodology used was random, multi-stage stratified using proportionate to population size spread acros``s all the 47 counties in Kenya.

The sample split was guided by all adults age 18+ proportionate to size as per the Kenya Bureau of Statistics population census of 2019.

The survey's sampling error was shown to be +/-1.8% with a 95% confidence level.

The data collection method for the survey was through computer-aided telephone interviews.

RAL Research used English and Kiswahili as the main laguages in the study.

The survey was conducted among 3,000 respondents aged 18 years and above.
