Another 22 injured in Nairobi–Nakuru Highway accident

At least 22 people have sustained injuries after an accident at Karai area near Keroche along the Nairobi-Nakuru Highway.

According to St John Ambulance, many of the passengers were students who were on their way back to school.

St John said the accident on Wednesday happened after the matatu the students were in collided with a van head-on.

"The casualties received on-site First Aid and were taken to Naivasha Referral Hospital," St John Ambulance said.

Naivasha Deputy OCPD James Ooro confirmed the accident, noting that all those involved were in stable condition in the sub-county hospital.

The incident comes a day after 15 people died in an accident along the  Nakuru-Eldoret Highway.

The accident involved a bus and a 14-seater matatu. The victims included eight adults and seven children including five girls.

According to police, 38 others escaped unhurt in the crash.

The death toll has surged to more than 20 in separate accidents within two days, as reported by the police.

The accident occurred around 2:45 am at the Twin Bridge area, involving a collision between a bus and a matatu.

Police confirmed that all occupants of the matatu lost their lives

Three bus passengers sustained serious injuries, with ten others experiencing minor injuries.

Police from Mau Summit responded promptly, assisting in transferring the injured individuals to Molo Hospital.

Rift Valley police chief Tom Odero appealed to all motorists to exercise extreme caution on the roads to prevent road crashes.
