The body of Vera Okoth was found in her bathroom at the family home in Umiru village on Tuesday.

Police said the body was discovered by her mother.

Siaya county police commander Cleti Kimaiyo said the mother told police she had gone to wake up her daughter but found her missing in her room.

She then proceeded to the bathroom, which is adjacent to her room only to find her body hanging with a rope around her neck.

Police said preliminary findings show before the deceased went to sleep, she had asked her mother if she would ever get a job as she had applied for over 500 jobs without success.

The deceased had graduated with a bachelor's degree in science in 2019 from Masinde Muliro University.
