South Mugirango Member of Parliament Silvanus Osoro has responded to Kisii Governor Simba Arati's Friday's remarks.

Taking to his X account, Osoro declared that he is the Gusii Land Leopard and he is ready for what's ahead.

"Do not swallow bait offered by the enemy. Do not interfere with an army that is returning home," his X post read.

"Echui Ya Gusii iko tayari. My two cents."(Gusii Land Leopard is ready.)

Arati had on Friday declared that he might be forced to defend himself if need be, insisting that he still roars like a lion.

"Ata nipigwe teke, wala risasi ama nifungwe jela, sitarudi nyuma. Kila mtu akona kazi take, mjumbe, MCA, governor na senata wakona kazi yao, lazima kila mtu afanye kazi yake. Bora niko, tutapambana na nyinyi kiasa vilivyo," Arati said at a funeral.

He added that while his opponents are baying for his blood, they must not mistake him for being a coward.

"They are asking if I am Simba, the true lion; even if I have been rained on, I remain a lion," he said.

Chaos erupted in South Mugirango on Monday, where Arati was set to address a rally, leaving four of his supporters nursing bullet wounds.

Education CS Ezekiel Machogu is to head a leaders' consultative meeting aimed at ending the rift between Arati and Osoro.

Machogu described the political ongoings in Kisii as 'perturbing and disturbing' and already denting the image of the region.

The standoff between the two has already led to the loss of three lives.

Machogu said this should come to an end.

"To get to the bottom of the matter, it has been decided that consultations be initiated among the leaders to find a solution to this unacceptable situation that threatens to soil the good name of our otherwise peaceful region," Machogu said in a statement on Friday.

The venue for the January 17 meeting will be communicated later, he stated.
