A Kiambu court will today issue further directions in a matter in which police were allowed to hold suspects in the murder of a Meru blogger pending probe.

At least seven suspects have been arrested and arraigned in connection with the murder of Daniel Muthiani alias Sniper.

Some three were arraigned in a Kibera court in Nairobi while another three were presented before a Kiambu court. One suspect was arraigned at the Milimani law courts in Nairobi.

Police were granted 21 days to hold the four who were arraigned in Nairobi while those presented in Kiambu were to be held for 14 days pending investigations.

The 14 days lapse today and police are likely to seek more days to hold the suspects.

Autopsy showed he died of strangulation.

Elsewhere, a DCI officer arrested in Eastleigh with over the weekend with six pieces of elephant tusk weighing 64.5 kgs will today be charged at the Kahawa law courts.

And at the Milimani law courts in Nairobi, five suspects arrested over the disappearance of a 49-year-old man after a circumcision ceremony will be back in court.

Senior principal magistrate Gilbert Shikwe had allowed police to detain Fredrick Ireri Runji, Annah Njoki Kithu, William Waka, Salim Ndeti and Alice Wanjiru Githinji for five days following the disappearance of Ephantus Ngari Nyaga in November last year.

The court heard that on 11 November last year, Fredrick Ireri Runji and Annah Njoki Kithu who were attending the circumcision ceremony party were the ones last seen with Nyaga.

He is said to have gone missing on the night of November 11 after the circumcision ceremony and has never been traced.

The case will be mentioned today.
