Businessman stabbed to death in Thika robbery

Police say assailant tried to drag him to a waiting car before the murder

Detectives are investigating the murder of a businessman at his premises in Ngoliba, Thika East, Kiambu county.

The deceased was identified as Erastus Muturi Wanyoike, 62.

He ran a hardware along the Thika-Garissa highway where he was stabbed and killed.

Witnesses said they saw him being dragged to a waiting car as he resisted the daytime attack on January 18.

The assailant turned and stabbed him in the chest and head before escaping the scene.

The body was later found on the veranda of his hardware minutes after the drama.

He had visible multiple stab wounds on the hands, stomach, and head.

Police said they are yet to make an arrest or establish the motive of the attack. A hunt for the assailant is ongoing.

The body was moved to General Kago's mortuary awaiting postmortem.

Meanwhile, police are investigating an incident in which a mechanic was killed at a garage in Mlolongo town, Machakos county.

Joseph Kathiaka, 33 was working on a trailer at his place of work when the when the cabin of the said truck slipped off and pressed him on his head against the chassis on Sunday morning.

He was rescued and rushed to Shalom Hospital where he died while undergoing treatment, police said.

The body was removed to the hospital mortuary awaiting postmortem.
