Police are investigating an incident in which the body of a man with a missing palm was recovered from Ngong River in Nairobi.

The body was found blocked by twigs at the river running through Kayole area, police said.

Locals found the body on Sunday morning in Kianda area and alerted the police.

Police who visited the scene said the body had a missing left palm from the wrist. He has not yet been identified. 

The police picked up the body to the mortuary pending identification and autopsy.

They suspect the man was killed elsewhere and the body dumped into the river.

No arrest has been made so far and an investigation into the murder has been opened, police on Tuesday said.

In another incident in Athi River, Machakos County, the body of a man was recovered from a river in Mto Mawe area.

Herders in the area spotted the body floating on the river and alerted police.

The body was retrieved and identified as that of Dickson Mokaya Nyakundi aged 32 years.

The deceased was working at a factory in the area and it is not clear how and why he was killed.

The body was removed to Shalom Hospital mortuary awaiting postmortem. It is not clear if he was killed and dumped there or drowned.
