Help me join form one! Boy struggling to afford school fees seeks assistance

Benedict Otieno who was placed at Tambach Boys High School is yet to join Form One due to lack of fees. 

Otieno scored 340 marks in the 2023 Kenya Certificate of Primary Education examination from Masara Primary School. 

"I am requesting any well-wisher to support me achieve my dream of becoming a doctor," he said in undated video on social media. 

Otieno said he was being supported by his grandmother throughout his primary school education. 

He said this was due to his mother's financial incapability to pay his school fees.

The Star spoke to his aunt who said Otieno's mother hawks vegetables door to door which is barely enough to sustain the family. 

She said they are yet to even download Otieno's calling letter. 

Otieno termed it as a privilege to be called to Tambach Boys High School despite the lack of fees. 

"Due to lack of finances, I have not been able to join the school. It pains me," Otieno said. 

"My plea to Kenyans and well-wishers is to kindly support me to join the school and achieve my dreams," he said. 

Form One admission began on January 15 for an entire week till Friday, January 19 but some learners across the country are yet to join high school.
