Kenyans interested in going through regulations drafted by the Ministry of Health seeking to operationalize the Social Health Act of 2023 can now get their copies through various channels.

This is after the ministry this week invited the public and other stakeholders to come out and take part in open forums and give their views on the regulations.

Kenyans are required to submit their views on the regulations either through written memoranda or physical and virtual public participation meetings.

Health CS Susan Nakhumicha has said those who would like to grab a copy of the regulations can do so from the ministry headquarters (Afya House).

The soft copies of the regulations can also be accessed through the ministry website or from the National Health Insurance Fund website.

“The regulations are available in hard copy at the ministry headquarters and we want to ensure that we also place copies in the different region offices for the NHIF, we have a whole information desk at the ministry anybody needing help can get in touch with the ministry,” Nakhumicha said.

“What we are going to do is to also share copies with media houses so that should anybody need they can also access it through you.”

The CS noted that the lifting of the court orders barring implementation of the Act was a reprieve adding that it paves the way for the ministry to implement Universal Health Coverage.

This, she said, means every Kenyan can access quality health services from wherever they are without suffering a financial loss.

“As a ministry, we have started activities in earnest to ensure we go into implementation. We have already advertised for the public and stakeholders to come out and participate in a public participation exercise so that they can give us their views on the regulations,” she said.

The public is required to give their views on the two sets of regulations; the Social Health Insurance (General) Regulations 2024 and the Social Health Insurance (Dispute Resolution Tribunal) Regulations 2024.

The Social Health Insurance (General) Regulations 2024 will provide for the implementation of the Primary Healthcare fund, Social Health Insurance Fund emergency, chronic and critical illness Fund.
