KAA to commission new generators at JKIA

Kenya Airports Authority is set to commission new backup generators at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport.

The generators which have been undergoing testing are expected to address the rampant power outage at the facility.

Kenya has experienced several blackouts, including one on August 26 that lasted 20 hours, with supply in some regions going on and off.

The incident saw operations at JKIA come to a standstill, a move that saw Transport Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen fire former KAA managing director Alex Gitari and reshuffle airport managers across the country to fix the problem.

Assembly committee to meet former NMS officials

Nairobi County Assembly Ad-hoc Committee will have a meeting with former senior Nairobi Metropolitan Services (NMS) officials at 10.30 am. The committee will meet former NMS Director-General Lieutenant General Rtd Maj. Gen. Mohamed Badi among other officials who include Constance Mwaikamba - Former Head of Treasury, NMS, Maj. John Njoroge - seconded officer, NMS, Kinuthia Mbugua - Former Statehouse Comptroller & Accounting Officer.

The health committee continues with the fact-finding mission

The National Assembly Committee on Health continues with its fact-finding mission investigating health facilities within Nairobi suspected of colluding with officials to steal from NHIF.

The committee will be visiting St. Peter’s Orthopedic and Surgical Specialty in Kangemi at 10 am.

Koome to hold a meeting with Heads of Mission, development partners

Chief Justice Martha Koome will hold a meeting with Heads of Mission and development partners at the Villa Rosa Kempinski Hotel in Nairobi at 8 am.

Mining conference kicks off today

Mining Principal Secretary Elijah Mwangi to open the inaugural Mining Sector Stakeholders' Forum at Serena Hotel in Nairobi, 9 am.

The mining sector currently contributes less than 1 per cent of Kenya's GDP but has the potential capacity to contribute 4 per cent to 10 per cent. Much of Kenya's natural resource wealth is yet to be exploited.

Lenolkulal to testify before court

Former Samburu Governor Moses Lenolkulal will continue with his testimony in a case where he is charged with corruption-related offences

The defence hearing began on Monday with Lenolkulal taking to the stance to defend himself.

The former governor told trial magistrate Thomas Nzioki that he was wrongfully prosecuted.

Lenolkulal was last year put on his defence for charges ranging from abuse of office to conflict of interest where the state maintains he corruptly received Sh84 million for the supply of petroleum products at the county government.

Public hearings on the Affordable Housing Bill continue

The joint Committee on Finance and National Planning and that of Housing are receiving views from Kenyans and other stakeholders on the bill seeking to provide legal framework for the establishment Affordable Housing Fund.

The joint committee is receiving views at the Mini Chambers, Parliament Buildings.

AFCON: Neighbours Mali, Bukina Faso face off today

A fierce battle of the neighbours is expected as Mali faces Burkina Faso in AFCON’s Round of 16 showdown. The two will face off at Amadou Gon Coulibaly Stadium, Korhogo.

Morocco will on the other hand face South Africa at Laurent Pokou Stadium, San Pedro.
