The nationwide recruitment of volunteer servicemen and women to join the National Youth Service (NYS) enters its second day today.

Public Service Cabinet Secretary Moses Kuria said in an update that the exercise proceeded smoothly on the first day.

He, however, disclosed that there were a few anomalies reported in some parts which he promised to address as he urged Kenyans to turn out in large numbers.

Embakasi gas explosion probe

The probe into the Embakasi gas explosion that claimed six lives last Thursday continues today with the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) announcing it has already arrested four suspects.

This, as it appealed for information from the public on the whereabouts of five other suspects linked to the incident. 

The owner of the plant alongside three senior officials from the National Environment Management Authority (NEMA) are in police custody.

Poland President tour

Poland president Andrzej Duda will today make a tour of the Fire and Rescue Training Centre in Kiambu as he wraps up his two-day Kenyan tour.

The Sh20 million facility was put up by the county in partnership with the Polish Centre for International Aid.

Ex-Samburu governor case

The Sh84 million raft case facing former Samburu Governor Moses Lenolkulal and others is set to proceed today at the High Court.

Robbery case

A police officer found guilty of conspiring with a thug to rob a cashier of Sh15 million at gunpoint is to be sentenced today.
