First Lady Rachel Ruto has today joined other First Ladies, officials, and dignitaries at a reception hosted by the Business Council for Understanding (BCIU). 

They were hosted on the sidelines of the 24th African Union Summit in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.

The event, themed "Celebrating the Impact of African First Ladies in Public Health," highlighted the impact of African First Ladies in addressing the significant disease burden of several diseases, including but not limited to women's health, HIV, HPV, and oncology and the We are Equal Campaign.

The reception also provided a platform for public and private sector stakeholders to share experiences and discuss opportunities for a multi-sectoral approach to scale up, integrate, and sustain global initiatives to address high-burden public health problems in low and middle-income countries.
