President William Ruto has lauded Kenya Kwanza MPs and members of his executive for a ‘phenomenon' job in supporting his policies.

The President thanked his team and especially MPs for successfully enacting enabling legislation to anchor his development manifesto telling them to remain focused on changing Kenya.

“I am a very proud leader of this team. In the last year, we have so many things, they have happened because of myself and my deputy or ministers or MPs alone, but all of us together,’’ the President said.

"I want to appreciate the input and contribution of every one of you to the place we are in today.’’

The President was speaking on Monday in Nakuru when he opened a retreat for Kenya Kwanza MPs, Cabinet Secretaries, Principal Secretaries and other senior members of the executive.

The president told his team that they have a historic opportunity to steady the country on a path of progress and development.

“I want to remind you friends that we have a historic opportunity to change this country. Many of you may not appreciate it because some are first-timers,’’ Ruto said.

“I want to urge you that let's all seize this moment, it is a moment when we have a manifesto that I believe if and when implemented can transform Kenya.’’

The president told the Kenya Kwanza troops that they have the necessary numbers both at the Senate and National Assembly to assist in transforming the country.

“I know there has always been a temptation to want to do what politicians do and that is focusing on the next election. I want to urge you that let’s do what leaders would do,’’ he said.

‘Let’s focus on what contribution we can make in changing the destiny of our country.’’

The President told the team that the country found itself in a sorry state because of politically correct decisions made in the past that focused on populism instead of pragmatism.

“The transformation of our country requires confronting situations on what is right and not what is popular,’’ he said.

‘I promise that I will lead from the front and I will lead from the front so that we can change Kenya.’’

Ruto said that his promise to Kenyans that he was a man on a mission remains true.

‘’ When I said I am a man on a mission, I meant it. We want to change Kenya. If you have any doubt, you just need to be patient, Kenya is going to change,’’ he said.
