The Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) now says that several persons who failed to honour their bids in their recently concluded auction will lose their bid amounts.

In a notice seen by the Star, KeNHA said that some of the people who had attended the auction tried to frustrate the process.

The authority also said that it reads mischief as the reason some offers have not been honoured despite deposits being paid.

The bids are of up to Sh60,000.

"It has come to the attention of the Authority that some members of the public frustrated the auction of select items in the just concluded auction process.

"The bidders were granted an opportunity to assess the items on offer and their published reserve prices within the allowed guidelines. The Authority, however, reads mischief in the select bidders' offer since they have not honoured their bids. In compliance with the Public Procurement and Assets Disposal Regulations (PPADR), the said bidders will lose their auction deposit of Ksh60,000," KeNHA said.

The Authority further noted that the items in question will be processed for a fresh auction.

"The repeat of this process will comply with the procurement process that requires transparency, fairness, and adherence to the set regulations."

KeNHA added that it is committed to promoting accountability and efficiency in public procurement, ultimately serving the interests of the citizens and the public good.
