Asenath Rotich, the late Kelvin Kiptum’s widow, has showered her husband with praises in an emotional farewell.

Rotich who at one point shed tears while reading her tribute revealed that they were planning to exchange vows in a colourful ceremony in April this year only for the death to occur.

“My dear love, I can’t learn how to say goodbye to you with weak fingers and pain in my heart. It is unbelievable that today I have learnt to stay with our beloved kids without you coming home again,” she said.

She also vowed to take care of their two young children.

“I promise to gather my strength for the sake of our children. I hope that the spirit world will inspire me to stand as a pillar to our children. I promise to make them smile in your honour,” she added.

While mourning Kiptum as the love of her life, Rotich said “I have cried until no more, I will miss you and my love for you is forever until we meet again”.

Kiptum, she said, was the best husband whose life was cut short at a time when his star was shining bright.

“When your star was growing to be the brightest, God chose you. You have been the best father to our children; I clearly miss your company. Dance with angels until we meet again,” Rotich said.

A host of leaders including President William Ruto are attending the ceremony held at ASK Chepkorio grounds in Elgeiyo Marakwet.

Kiptum will be laid to rest at his new home in Naiberi, Uasin Gishu.
