Housing PS Charles Hinga has told off critics of the house build for late marathoner Kelvin Kiptum.

Hinga was responding to a section of Kenyans who had criticised the house from the onset of its construction.

Speaking on Friday after handing over the house to Kiptum's family, Hinga told those who had been criticising the house to take back their words.

"Some of them even nicknamed it Eldoret Quiver, I hope they can swallow their words now because this is a beautifully done house," the PS  said.

Hinga explained that the light steel gauge technology used to construct the house would be ideal for developing other government establishments such as hospitals and schools.

"This technology is great maybe now for our police stations, we can use this technology now for building schools and building hospitals," he said.

When Kiptum died, President William Ruto directed that a three-bedroom house be constructed for him in one week.

However, as the construction works began, the structure which was unique to many brought confusion with some Kenyans saying the house had failed to meet expectations.

A section of Kenyans on social media started creating memes, with the notion that the house resembled the famous club 'Quiver lounge', having caught PS Hinga's attention.

The CEO Vastu Co. Limited Navil Patel, the company behind the construction of the house, termed it as an honour to be given the opportunity to demonstrate the technology.

He further noted that due to the time frame given by the President, they had to increase the working hours to get it done.

"In terms of time, we had done something similar in between two to three weeks so at first we saw it as a challenge doing it in one week," Patel said.

He added: "But we realised that we had to increase the working hours, by working longer hours we knew we would manage."

Unlike many expected from the beginning, the final product radiates beauty and purpose, proving that in the face of doubt, persistence transforms critique it remains a majestic end product.

The house is located at Kiptum's four-acre Naiberi farm in Uasin Gishu some 20 kilometres from Eldoret town.

President Ruto on Friday announced that the government will gift the family of late marathoner Kiptum another house in addition to the newly built house.

Speaking during the funeral service held at Chepkorio grounds, Ruto said this was in recognition of his achievements.
