The new elections board of the United Democratic Alliance has been sworn in a day after their names were unveiled.
The new team chaired by Kenya Revenue Authority Chairman Anthony Mwaura took the oath of office on Wednesday morning.
Their names were released on Tuesday afternoon after President William Ruto chaired a meeting of the National Steering Committee at the Hustler Centre.
Others who took the oath of office on Wednesday include Vice Chairperson Veronica Kiberenge and members Lydia Munika, Jimmy Kahindi and Mary Matinga.
Halake Dida and Linda Kiome were also sworn in as UDA's election board members in a ceremony witnessed by party chairperson Cecily Mbarire.
UDA Secretary General Cleophas Malala was also present as the new team assumed office.
The NSC picked the seven-member team on Tuesday, dropping two of the members who were in the former panel.
Former members were Salome Beacco, Aurelia Rono, Ummi Bashir, Matiko Chacha, and Raphael Chimera.
Aurelia, Ummi and Salome were appointed as Principal Secretaries in the Kenya Kwanza government while Chimera is a senator.
Mwaura who served as the former panel's chair was retained to lead the new team tasked with overseeing grassroots elections from later this month.
The elections were planned to begin on April 12 but will start on April 26, 2024, staggered starting with seven counties.
In a statement on Tuesday, UDA Secretary General Cleopas Malala said the first phase of the elections will include Nairobi, Narok, West-Pokot, Busia, Homabay, Isiolo and Garissa.
The party will then move to hold elections in some of its strongholds on June 22, in 13 counties.
The counties in the second phase include Mombasa, Uasin Gishu, Nyandarua, Tharaka Nithi, Machakos, Kisii, Bungoma, Siaya, Taita Taveta, Wajir, Tana River, Kwale and Marsabit.
The third phase will see 15 more counties hold grassroots polls on August 10, 2024.
The counties in this phase will be Kiambu, Embu, Kericho, Meru, Migori, Kakamega, Nyamira, Kitui, Elgeyo Marakwet, Samburu, Kajiado, Mandera, Kilifi, Murang’a and Lamu.
The last phase will take place on August 24, 2024, in 12 counties namely; Nakuru, Bomet, Nyeri, Kirinyaga, Nandi, Baringo, Turkana, Laikipia, Trans-Nzoia, Kisumu, Vihiga and Makueni
The County and National elections will be done later in December, according to the decision made by the NSC on Tuesday.
