Ghana has bestowed its highest honour, The Companion of the Order of the Star of the Volta, upon President William Ruto

This is in recognition of his leadership and commitment to principles of accountability and due process for all citizens.

Speaking during a State banquet on Wednesday evening, Ghanian President Nana Akufo-Addo praised President Ruto as an “example of a new generation of African leaders” dedicated to upholding principles of accountability and due process to all citizens no matter their status in society

He pointed out that Ruto had done this regardless of the complexities or potential political consequences.

“Under your leadership, Kenya has become a shining example of a nation governed by the rule of law,” Akufo-Addo said

The Ghana President also pointed out that under President Ruto's leadership, Kenya has regained its place of pride on the international stage.

President Akufo-Addo cited Kenya’s resurgence on the international stage and cited achievements such as declining inflation, growth in start-ups, and increased access to housing and health insurance for Kenyans.

This is President Ruto's first visit to Ghana since he took over the presidency in September 2022.

Kenya and Ghana have already signed seven agreements aimed at enhancing bilateral ties between the two countries.
