Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua is at the Hustler Centre, the headquarters of the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party for talks with the leadership over impending polls.

Gachagua who is also the UDA deputy party leader, will on Monday hold a meeting with the UDA top leadership to strategise on the grassroots elections that begin on April 26.

This is the second time that Gachagua has held talks with the UDA's top leadership after another session last week at his Karen Residence.

UDA Secretary General Cleophas Malala said the DP's presence at the UDA party headquarters is crucial to planning party activities.

"The meeting is geared towards strengthening the party and laying plans for crucial party activities, including grassroots elections that kick off this week,'' Malala posted on his X account.

The DP will be chairing a meeting of the UDA National Steering Committee (NSC), a top party organ that brings together the executive leadership.

On April 12 Gachagua held a meeting with some UDA top officials as the party gears up for the polls that begin this week.

The meeting came a week after President William Ruto and Gachagua held a meeting of the UDA NSC which unveiled the roadmap to the party's grassroots polls.

Tuesday's meeting was a follow-up of the party's plans to hold phased-out elections in select counties from this month ahead of county and national level elections later in the year.

Gachagua said the meeting was founded on consultative and collaborative engagements geared at strengthening the party and solidifying the resolve to fully implement the UDA Manifesto.

"This evening, at the Official Residence in Karen, I held a consultative meeting with top UDA officials on the progress of party activities and programmes," Gachagua posted on his X account on April 12.

Present were party Chairperson Cecily Mbarire, Secretary General Cleophas Malala, National Assembly Majority Leader Kimani Ichungw'ah, Senate Majority Leader Aaron Cheruiyot, Vice-Chairperson Hassan Omar, Treasurer Japheth Nyakundi among other senior party officials.

UDA has been holding consultative meetings with leaders from counties that make up phase one of the elections calendar.

The meetings which started on April 11 are ending on Monday.

The party will start elections on April 26, in seven counties, namely Nairobi, Narok, West Pokot, Busia, Homa Bay, Isiolo, and Garissa

Last Friday, the UDA elections board held meetings with leaders from the counties to strategise for the upcoming polls.
