President William Ruto has presided over the swearing-in and installation of ranks of the newly promoted Chief of Defence Forces General Charles Muriu Kahariri.

Also sworn in during the ceremony at State House, Nairobi, was the new Vice Chief of Defence Forces Major General John Omenda.

Others who took the oath of office are Major General Fatuma Ahmed, named the Kenya Airforce commander, and Brigadier Paul Otieno, promoted to Major General and named the commander of Kenya Navy. 

Fatuma replaced Omenda while Otieno took over from Maj General Thomas Ng'ang'a who was moved to the National Defence University and appointed the Vice Chancellor of administration and finance.
