Medical Students of the University of Nairobi (AMSUN) have organised a charity run to raise funds to support the underprivileged students in the School of Medicine.

The run last year raised enough money to support 22 needy medical students.

This year, the run, set to be held this Saturday, targets to support 50 needy students with school fees, food and accommodation expenses.

Dubbed Leave NoMedic Behind (LNMB), the run began in 2017 when the then 5th-year medical school class had a classmate who was almost denied the chance to sit end-of-year exams because of a fee balance of less than  Sh20,000.

His classmates rallied together, each giving what they could and with that,  the student was able to sit for his exams.

It is from there that Leave NoMedic Behind (LNMB) was born.

"The Leave No Medic Behind initiative is about more than just a race—it's a movement to support underprivileged medical students who have decided to dedicate their lives to saving others," Peter Ogutu, 2024 LNMB Race Director, said.

"We're proud to host this event and bring the community together to honour and uplift those who are willing to give so much for us."

Initially, LNMB primarily did student-centred fundraising using the Harambee model.

In 2022, there emerged the idea to organise a charity run.

The run has been divided into two: 5-kilometre and 10-kilometre races.
