The government and striking doctors are likely to record a settlement signifying the end of a nationwide strike that's lasted for close to two months.
Appearing before Justice Byrum Ongaya, Advocate Ochieng Oduol the lead counsel for the office of the Attorney General (AG) said they have made progress and filed in court two reports. One is the return to work formula between the government and the Doctor's union and the second one is between the county governments and the unions.
"As you can see, the parties have agreed, signifying the agreement and we request the court that we come back before you at 4.30 pm, parties are finalising the final documents in terms of editing and we will file the final document as an all-round return to work formula pursuant to the strike notice," Oduol said.
Counsel Edgar Washika for KMPDU confirmed to the court that parties have been engaged in a fruitful process.
"As early as this morning we were in a meeting with the employers and confirmed that the documents presented to you represent the agreements between the parties save for the issue for doctor interns," he said.
He also sought for time to conclude.
The Judge then directed parties to appear before him at 4: 0 pm today.
