Environment and Climate Change Principal Secretary Festus Ng'eno on Wednesday hosted the Italian Government delegation.
The delegation was led by Undersecretary Gaudio Barbaro and the country's ambassador to Kenya Roberto Natali.
They discussed a wide array of subjects including climate finance, energy transition and the outcomes of the inaugural Africa Climate Summit as well as support to operalization of the summit's secretariat in Nairobi.
"We thank the Italian government for its continued support for the restoration of the Cherangany Hills Forest ecosystem which will enhance the livelihoods of host communities," Ng'eno said.
On energy transition, PS Ng'eno noted that 93 per cent of Kenya's grid electricity is from renewable sources.
This he said includes solar, wind, geothermal and hydroelectric with plans to transition to 100 per cent renewable energy by the year 2030.
The PS was joined in the meeting by NetFund CEO Samson Toniok, Climate Change Director Pacifica Ogola and Head of MEAs Linda Kosgei among other senior Ministry officials.
